    Daddy/Daughter Breakfast Sketches

This was the start of a VERY long day for me & Girl2!  I had been at the studio until 2am, went back to the studio at 6:30, and went to take the little girl to breakfast at 9:30.  We talked more than we drew or even ate.  She was very excited to be working the gallery event that night.  The art’s council First Saturday Kids were in the studio in the morning so we ran errands all morning.  Then we cleaned up and set up the studio for the evening event.  She put her dress on, her heels, and her earring (she only has one ear pierced).  She played hostess the whole evening and even played tambourine while Boy2 kazooed with our guitarist.  By the time she got into bed at 11p, she passed out with a huge smile on her face and didn’t wake up until after 10 the next day.  It was a GREAT day for us.

  • The Artistic Biker Does The Paseo Arts District

    Paseo Arts District

This week was the last session of the Leadership Arts program I have been involved with. Part of this week’s class was to tour the Paseo Arts District near downtown Oklahoma City. The biggest part of discussion during the show was about how rows of galleries look to non-artists.
What’s On Your Easel this week featured Jay the Viking (http://moon-light-creations.webs.com), The Sexy, Read-Headed DarcyW (http://art-and-sole.blogspot.co.uk), Artist Poet Girl (http://mypurpledoorstudios.blogspot.com) and Charlie Brownie.

You may have noticed that one video short  is right side up and there is one just like it done in the normal style. Use the “Thumbs Up” and the comments to vote on which format you like best. That’s what we’ll do from now on.

  • Daddy/Daughter Breakfast 25MAY2013

    breakfast sketches

With school being out, it being Memorial Day Weekend, and no soccer, we slept in.  It was wonderful.  Boy2 didn’t wake us up until almost 7.  We’ve both been kind of playing around with shapes in our sketchbooks for the last few weeks.  It’s great to just doodle together.

    Girl2 on a scooter

Then we went to the studio together so I could build some frames.  I couldn’t get anything done from running outside every five minutes to check on her and her scooter.  This is a kid that I can’t get to walk and sip from a straw at the same time.  Now she’s supposed to scoot, watch for traffic, AND sip her drink?  I put the cones out so maybe the motorists would slow down and wonder what was going on.  I might be a bit protective.

Wednesday and Thursday are the last two official class days with the Leadership Arts.  I’ve really had a lot of fun getting to know some of these folks and look forward to working with them on more projects.

We spent today at the Istvan Gallery on Oklahoma City. They share the space with working glass artist’s and spent the time between sessions watching them teach.
