Alaca On Tuesday night, I like to go to my buddy Rix’s house and draw nekid people. He has a garage apartment in the back that he has converted into a drawing lab. In the garage itself there’s all manner of wood working, paper making, pastel and charcoal making supplies, and there is almost always some kind of Himalayan Yak Yodelling music playing to expand your mind. Exactly what I would do with a man cave sans Yak Singing.
This week’s adventure happened MOSTLY without Girl 2. She was off doing some cool Girl STEM stuff for school. She came home with a homemade circuit, a fossil footprint of a skunk, some other cool things I can’t remember because I’m too jealous to think about it. There’s a big push to get girls interested in the STEM subjects and she’s a perfect candidate for it. I still argue it should be STEAM. Anyway, while she was busy being cool with the sciences, Boy 2, my beautiful, young bride and I ventured off into the At Home store where they have ACRES AND ACRES of home decorating crap.
Chairs, throw rugs, patio furniture, mass produced art, baskets galore, this place has TONS of crap you NEED! Well… need probably wasn’t the best word. You didn’t know you needed it until you saw it on the shelf. We managed to pick up a few things to make cleaning and organizing around the house easier. Then the wife decided to start decorating the beach house. WE DON’T OWN A BEACH HOUSE. Everything she touched she would describe exactly where in the beach house it would be on display and how it would be used. Telling her we don’t own a beach house somehow did not dissuade her.
We picked up Girl 2 and finished off the day in a Starbucks. I usually detest Startbucks, but this was a nice one and I got my sissified coffee sans rum.
