Just a quiche tonight. Tonight’s EDM challenge is to draw a musical instrument. You have seen this guitar before if you have perused the gallery. Right there on the first page is a photo of me and Girl2 playing Puff The Magic Dragon. I am a *SUPERSTAR* as far as she’s concerned.

When All You Have Is A Hammer…
It’s funny to me that today’s EDM challenge would be to draw your favorite tool. I wasn’t exactly sure how to draw cynicism or sarcasm, or even wit. Those are the tools that I use the most to pound through my day. My beautiful young bride just yesterday said to me, “When all you have is a hammer, the whole world looks like a nail.” Well, she didn’t actually *SAY* it. Some character on television said it and she pointed at me and hollered, “AMEN!” As I innocently stared at her, deer in the headlight eyes and all, she proceeded to explain to me that I am so accustomed to being mistreated by people that I am suspicious of anyone being nice to me. She went on to suggest that I find some new tools with which to challenge the world so that I would quit beating the same dead horses. I let her rant on for a few minutes until she took a breath and I said, “I’m sorry, Baby, you’re right.” This is the sarcastic phrase I use to signal that I’m not going to argue with her and that we should skip straight to the “making up.” I may indeed need to find some new tools, but today, I’ll stick with the hammer. -
I Can't Tell You, But I Know That It's Mine
What do you see when you turn off the light? Actually, the challenge today was to draw what you see when you wake up in the morning. This picture is not entirely accurate. What you can’t see in the drawing are my glasses that would be on the nightstand. Of course, if they were there, you wouldn’t be able to make out anything else in the drawing. Just like when I first wake up.EDM

Gallery Quirks
The last few days my host has been performing server upgrades so the site has been a bit wonky. Then today, I decide to upgrade the gallery. Danged if I didn’t mess up the database and have to reload everything. If you notice any pictures out of place, please let me know.Today’s challenge was to draw my phone. Since I did the cell the other day instead of a watch or jewelry, I chose to do the house phone. I stared around that thing forever trying to find an angle I found interesting. That’s a lot of the fun of these challenges, finding beauty in everyday items.

Perspective
Perspective
–per spek tiv
-Noun
A technique of depicting volumes and spatial relationships on a flat surface.the state of one’s ideas, the facts known to one, etc., in having a meaningful interrelationship
Do you ever get so focused on one particular aspect of a thing only to realize you are seeing it differently than you thought? I mean, you imagine it one way and in seeing it, you try to force it to conform to what you imagined? It may or may never be what you once thought it was, but it also might never have been. Wanting something to be that way will not magically make it that way.
That’s just vague enough to sound like a horoscope. Aquarius: Something will happen today that you won’t recognize happened until you remember that something was supposed to have happened.
Anyway, back to what I was saying. Sometimes I get so caught up in trying to make the world conform to how I think it should be, that I forget how it really is. I forget that doing the right thing won’t keep you from being made a fool. I forget sometimes that having the right-of-way won’t make you any less dead in an accident. You still have to pay attention. You still have to occasionally change your point of view, if only to protect your sanity.
When I drew today’s Every Day Matters challenge, draw your glasses, I stared at the finished sketch for several minutes. There is something off, more off than usual. It took me a while to realize that I sat straight up while trying to draw what I see on a sketchbook laying flat on the table. So, looking straight on, the perspective was askew.
