Skeleton pirate lore and the myths that made ‘em. Bones, boats, and the spooky side of story evolution
Sketch and Coffee Live at 5:30am Texas time

The Random Object Randomogrifier gave us a bony surprise: a skeleton pirate. We got into why pirates and skeletons go together like rum and regret. Turns out it’s a potent mix of sailor superstition, old-world bone cults, and the spooky legacy of lost souls at sea. A little bit of science, a little bit of folklore, and a whole lot of toothy grins.

We also talked about how ideas travel, whether through trade routes or tall tales, and how ancestor worship might’ve gone from sacred to spooky, depending on where the wind was blowing. It was a great morning for drawing, laughing, and kicking off the day with something creatively creepy.
