Art Journaling Stuffy Head

We’ve been having 18F mornings and 70F afternoons. All the constant going from cold to hot to cold wreaks havoc on my immune system. Then you take the NyQuil or DayQuil or any other sinus medicine and you feel like your head is floating and stuffed up. UGH! Anyway, that’s what I talked about on the show this week.

Art Journaling You Otter

I have been receiving several messages lately telling me what I ought to do with my art. It got me thinking over the past few years of being online just how many people have offered me unsolicited, and at times seeming mean spirited, advice. You should know that even these e-mails center around the fact that I am free to do what I want in my journal. I usually listen to the advice then do what I want anyway.

Tragedy struck about 10 minutes into the show this week as Boy2 discovered a Japanese fishing float that my mother brought back from Hawaii 30 years ago. If you’re not familiar, these are glass balls made in Japan that break free from the fishing nets and float out to sea. Many of them float for dozens of years before washing ashore. He picked it up and tried to bounce it before anyone could get to him. It’s just stuff, though. We enjoyed it for a long time.

Art Journaling Mr. Clean and The Buddha

What a FUN night we had! The theme for the night was a clean slate, but that didn’t really have much bearing on the show. Girl2 painted alongside, Boy2 played with blocks and danced, My Beautiful, Young Bride gave us an update on the happenings in her class room and my mum rejoined us as producer. It was truly awesome!

Wanted to start the new year of videos with a clean slate. Mr. Clean and The Buddha share a common goal of clearing clutter!

Art Journaling 2012

Wringing out the old and Ringing in the New Year! This week’s art journal entry is done with acrylic paint and cut out collage. Remnants of the year gone include the bottle of rum, the tiger striped bra, “draw a cat” and “put a bird on it!” I was an AWESOME year. 2012 is already shaping up for awesomeness too. Look forward to seeing you in it.

The Artistic Biker Does Retro: After a long discussion of what exactly “Retro” means, I decided that Retro is a matter of perspective. To some, it’s bell bottoms and hippie clothes. To others, it’s huge, clunky cell phones. To me, it’s cassette tapes and izod shirts. And Kiss. And Prince. And Paisley. :)

This week I memorialized my recent trip to the dentis where my angel/sadist of a dentist treated me to a wonderful trip on nitrous! Through the course of the dental trip I went from philosophizing about the effects of happy gas to recognizing that there was a boob on my head.

The Artistic Biker Does Something Sinister!
Saturday, August 13th, was National Lefthanded Day. @Ikerrilove and @Daleannepotter challenged @journalartista to do her entire show on Saturday using only her left hand. When I saw the tweet, I thought that sounded like a WONDERFUL challenge so I picked up and did it too. During the show, I did the entire page with my left hand, I exposed both my dad and my wife as being bidextral, and we talked about UK rioting kids needing a spanking.

Art Journal Farewell to The Space Shuttle

I did what has to be my fastest page ever as I did a journal entry dedicated to the final space shuttle launch. The 115F dry weather had the paint drying in seconds instead of minutes, even without the hairdryer! Then to kill some time I did a cartoon gremlin, a quick studio tour and played with the babies. There’s a spray paint moon and space background, a painted sun and earth, and a collaged shuttle Atlantis. We also had a brief visit from @TheAmpleGoddess. It’s always a joy when she brings her family to the studio for a visit.

Art Journaling for Hay Fever

This week on The Artistic Biker Live! I took a cue from Leslie Herger (@lessherger) when she stated on Twitter that she wished Mother Nature would quit making the sweet love to her face. I empathize with this sentiment as EVERYONE here seems to be suffering with seasonal allergies as well. This comment had me laughing all week though so for the page this week, I did a tribute to Hay Fever. I demoed a few tips on atmospheric perspective and splashed out some quick and easy flowers. Then we talked about The Big Sucking T-shirt Machine! I’ve had some new ideas to make that sucker work, but it’s still not ready. Until then, @EvelineTimeless will just have to sit around shirtless.

Art Journal Cinco de Madre!

This week’s episode of The Artistic Biker Live! landed on Cinco de Mayo. I thought in celebration of that, I would do a brightly colored villa adorned with tulips. Why tulips? Because the following Sunday is Mother’s Day here in the U.S. and apparently, tulips are the traditional flower of Mother’s Day. Anyway, once I painted the tulip in the journal, I really liked the way it worked with that background. So, I set the journal page aside and did a mock-up painting to see if the tulip would lend itself to my larger expired calendar painting canvases. I believe it will work out very well, and I’ll get some practice too. The first one is already promised to my mother for Mother’s Day. Click Here to Watch This Week’s Episode!
