Welcome to the Artistic Biker's Webspace!

The Artistic Biker is me, Jonathan "Blade" Manning.
A treasure troll of a man, with hobbit feet and a sharp pointy head. You may see me traveling up and down the highways of Oklahoma looking for the next place to sketch, paint, sing, dance, write, photograph or simply meditate. I have begun a journey that once set upon, there is no turning back. You can share in my blunt force journey through the art world on my weekly U-stream broadcast
The Artistic Biker Live!

Thursdays from 6-8p central

Also, check me out on Teh YouTube!
You can "LIKE" me on Facebook!

Hermitic Switch

May 12th, 2008

hermitcrabpic20 Hermitic Switch

An hermetic switch is a switch sealed in an airtight container. Hermetic Switch is a very successful company in Oklahoma. They make switches small enough for a pacemaker and advanced enough for top tier military aircraft. But we are talking about an “Hermitic” switch.

I spend most of my day going around trying to smile and fit in with people that I really have nothing in common with other than our work. Don’t get me wrong. Many of the people I work with have become dear friends during my tenure. But when I get home, I begin to shut down. I have a little office that used to be a laundry room where I go and play on my computer or draw or whatever. It’s cramped and cluttered and desperately needs cleaning. Maybe I’ll do that someday, but not today. This is where I go and hide away from the rest of the world. My friends and family continuously want to “do” something when I really just want to escape everything. I think I could do very well under some forgotten bridge, charging toll to whomever happens to wander over it. I wonder if that’s how Ted Kaczinski felt.

Maybe I should get out more…
